Wai-Man is a Chicago-based medical illustrator. Originally from Miami, FL, she received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Miami. After graduating, she worked at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis where she was a part of the team to gain FDA approval for the first ever Schwann Cell transplantation in human sub-acute spinal cord injury. Wai-Man also has a passion for art. She loves using dramatic lighting and color to tell a story - a technique that she enjoys incorporating in her medical illustrations. She is currently a Master of Science candidate in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, a field that allows her to communicate complex science and biological topics through the power of illustration.
Her award winning illustrations have won regional and national competitions. She enjoys the challenge of translating complex scientific and biological topics into beautiful and easy to understand visualizations. Her research background ensures scientific accuracy while her painting and artistic background allow her to create expertly crafted visuals.
